HAPPY EASTER!

The Bunny was good to us.  Hope he was good to you as well!

Maelie's 3rd Birthday

We had a monster pool party the weekend before her birthday, with her little friends.  The weekend after her birthday, we had a family party at Grandma's house.  THESE are the photos from her actual 3rd birthday.  Mommy and Maelie had a bit of a 'spa day' at home, we went out to dinner, and then the poor poppet ended up with a fever and not feeling quite so well that evening.  But, we had a nice, relaxing 3rd birthday.  My baby's growing up so quickly!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yeah...catching up on photos...a bit late, what else is new??  :)

One of my lovely friends with a daughter Maelie's age, just happens to be a bonny lass!  When she went home to Ireland a couple months ago, she brought this awesome shirt back.  We love it!  :D

First Trip to the Park of the Year!

A couple weeks ago, we actually had a few days of Spring!  We've since gone back to Winter, but we made the most of those 48 precious hours of Spring and got to go to the park!  :D  We're hoping to enjoy those 36 hours of Summer that might happen in July.....

The Bathroom

I love being a Mommy.  I really do.  There are certain trade-offs from life without children, of course....lack of spontaneity for some things, knowing more about children's books/TV shows/cartoon characters than more adult entertainment options, and a lack of privacy.  But, the love, kisses, and handmade sticky Popsicle stick picture frames with a hand-drawn 6-legged horse in the middle more than makes up for these trade-offs.

However, I'm starting to think that having just 5 minutes alone in the bathroom might be worth trading in the 6-legged horse masterpiece.

For example, the other evening as I sat on the couch surveying the scene before me, I was filled with inner contentment.  Maelie was sitting next to her Daddy, watching Mickey Mouse.  Our Yorkies were curled up on the couch, dreaming of milk bones and whatever else dogs dream about, still as stuffed animals.  The cats were hiding, and all was well in the world.  My first thought was, "Ah.  Life is good."  My second? "I gotta 'make.'"

I extracted myself from the slumbering Yorkies, tiptoed past Maelie and her Daddy, and made my way to the bathroom.  Ahhhh.  I sat down in relative peace, picked up the closest reading material handy...the Scholastic Book Order...and enjoyed the solitude.  Seriously, I poop you not, THIS was the scene 1.2 seconds after sitting down.

"Boo Boo, where's the fire extinguisher?" My husband asks from the closed door.

"Momma read to me!!!!"  Maelie opens the door and stands there with the 2009 World Almanac under her arm.

"Yip!"  Allegra the Yorkie barrels in.

"Bark!"  Eureeka the Yorkie jumps over Allegra.

"Woof!" Stewie the Yorkie as he chases the other Yorkies around my feet.

"Ma'am, can you please sign for this package?"  The UPS man at the window.

"MEOW!!!"  The cat, declaring her hunger and demanding food in the bowl as she winds around my ankles and through my underwear.

"SPLASH!!!!!!"  Maelie making sound effects as she dumps my makeup into the sink.

"RING RING RING," followed by, "Do you EVER answer your phone?  Call your mother, she worries."  My mother, on the answering machine.

"Have you found God?"  Religious person standing next to UPS man at window.

"Momma....Wheeee!!!!   PAPER!"  Maelie, as she TPs the bathroom.

"Honey, where's the BIG fire extinguisher????"  The husband.

Sigh.  Flush.
