Meet 98-Year-Old Actress Mae Laborde who started acting when she was 93.

LOS ANGELES (May 28, 2007) -- Anyone who says you’re too old to do anything needs to meet 98-year-old actress Mae Laborde who at 93 decided she wanted to become an actress so she went out and did just that.
“Because of my age, I thought, ‘I think I’ll go back to work. That will be unusual,’” she told Access Hollywood.
And just like that, a star was born.
“I had two auditions in two weeks,” she said. “But it isn’t steady [work] of course.”
No one said it would be easy, but at 98 Mae Laborde is unique among the Hollywood crowd.
“I have six great grandchildren,” she noted.
As Mae found out in being cast for the comedy “The Pineapple Express,” age does have its privileges.
“I did not have to go for an audition. They said ‘we want Mae, we saw her picture in a pile of the LA casting office,’ and they called my agent and said ‘send Mae directly to the shoot. That happened twice,” she told Access.
Born in 1909, Mae and her late husband Nicholas were married for 49 years. She still lives in the same Santa Monica, California house they shared since 1935.
You may have seen Mae as a not so nimble 40 years in the future Vanna White in a skit on a recent episode of “Mad TV.” She’s also landed a Lexus commercial and has had some fun on Fox’s spoof, “Talkshow with Spike Feresten,” playing a solar powered cue card person.


All I have to say is, WOW. Age really is relative, isn't it??

Wow, it seems as if this week is flying by! You know what else flew by? My time in college. I happened to graduate from college in '97. I went to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. When I went to school, the internet and email were just getting up-to-speed and no one carried around cell phones.

How the heck did we live?????? ha! I guess now I can tell our little one about the 'good old days'...

Two Girls' Jewelry

I have to show you all the BEAUTIFUL jewelry that my dear friend Karey made for me!!! She is so talented. I asked her to make me a custom piece that was like the ocean. What she made is even better than I could have imagined myself. The different pieces look like squares of sea glass, and the way she designed the necklace makes me think of an ocean wave with glints of sunshine on the water. She did tell me that the sparkly white beads reminded her of watching a friend surf, and I can see why! It so looks like the sun dancing on the water!!

A New Challenge....don't worry, it's FUN

Okay...to keep me busy with our new wait, I've decide to do a couple of things. First of all, I'm putting 12o pieces of chocolate in a jar, and everyday I get to eat one. When the jar is empty, I SHOULD have a referral!!!! Kinda like a big Advent calendar.

My second challenge....everyday I'm going to post the count, and something significant about that number. For instance, today is 120. And, what's significant about the number '120?' Well, according to wikipedia:

"In astrology, when two planets in a person's chart are 120 degrees apart from each other, this is called a trine. This is supposed to bring good luck in the person's life"

Kind of interesting, eh??? Just wait 'til we get down to a partridge in a pear tree!!!!

Feelin' Better

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support regarding our delay. I am feeling better about it now. I know it will happen when it's supposed to. Still a little bummed, but feeling better. :) Our little girl apparently isn't ready for us yet. So, while she's getting ready for us, I'm going to use this time to get super ready for her. It's only fair, right?? lol.
