A Few Maelie Funnies

Yesterday, Maelie and I were taking out the garbage and she happened to see an empty McDonald's bag. Her little hands started clapping together so hard and she WANTED that bag. Well, we HAD to call up Daddy and request McDonald's for dinner. So, Maelie made her first dinner request! LOL!!! And when Daddy walked in with the McDonald's bags, yep, her little hands started clapping again. Oh, what a healthy family we are. But, Maelie gets chicken and a few french fries. :)

Maelie has now 5 books that are her ultimate favorites. She claps her hands and gets absolutely excited when she sees them. Sometimes, I literally have to hide them after reading them over and over and over. Two of these books I have memorized, from reading them so much. One is her old favorite, "A Child's Good Morning Book, by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Karen Katz. The other new favorite is a cute, little book that my cousin sent for her...it's a Sesame Street Easter book. Yes, we'll be reading about Easter for a looong time. At least, it's mostly about bunnies. :) Today, I thought I'd try a little trick. I opened up the 'Child's Good Morning Book' and recited the words to the Sesame Street book. Maelie got this puzzled look on her face, and looked down to the other book like, "WAAAAIT a minute." So, she picked up the Sesame Street book and wanted that one. So, I did it again, switched the words. Again, she looked down at the other book and hesitated...WAAAAIT. This isn't right!!!!

She may not be walking, or talking, or have teeth yet, but our baby is a sharp one. LOL!! :)

Sick Week

My blog's been lacking, I know. I have posts and photos to download, but I've been battling a bad cold/sinus thing. I'm hoping to have the energy to update it tomorrow. After I find my camera.......

Walking

Since it's finally been nice out, we've been trying to take advantage of it by going for walks. The other night, the whole family went out for a jaunt around the block, and Tuesday Maelie and I went for a longer walk, about 20 blocks roundtrip. And, being the blogger, 'capture every moment on camera' momma I am, I have photos! :)

A Rough Day

We've had a rough day today, and I deserve the award for Worst Mother of the Year. We decided to go to the zoo today. It was a lovely day, and Maelie was a little oernery, because we got there during her naptime. But, she was doing okay and enjoyed walking outside in her stroller. We have some great photos of her outside.

And then....we were walking along the nice, hard, asphalt paths. Maelie was in her stroller, but I didn't have her belted in. She's never tried to climb out, and would happily ride along. While we were walking, though, she leaned over the front of the stroller a couple times to see her shadow. I stopped, and made sure she was sitting, but the last time, I stupidly didn't stop, and didn't buckle her in. I'm sure you can guess where this is going....she toppled out of her stroller and smacked her face on the asphalt.

Her little nose started to bleed and she has a fat lip. I have never felt so bad in my entire life. I should have stopped, and I should have buckled her in. Now she has a little cherry nose and a puffy upper lip. I'll post photos later. I feel like the worst mom in the world!!!!!!!

Goofy Girl

Tonite, after dinner, I was playing with Maelie in her high chair. We have a little game we made up a long time ago..knocking on her high chair or tables. I knock, then she does...she's a silly girl. Tonite, she was just a giggly thing! I had to record it. Check it out, and turn up the sound so you can hear her infectious laughing. I swear, if you could bottle her giggle, there would never be a need for prozac in the world!!! :)

First Walk of the Season

We've FINALLY gotten some nice weather, and the sidewalks are mostly clear. Maelie and I went for our first walk of the season last Thursday, and it was great! We ended up walking the 7 blocks or so to downtown, and then, on the spur of the moment, decided to pop in and visit Auntie Kimmie where she works - and luckily, it was Auntie Kimmie's breaktime, so we got to walk around the block with her! Nice!

Kickin' back after our walk...nice pink cheeks!

Bath Photos

Maelie loves her baths, and we love to take photos of our sweetie having so much fun!!!

First Trip to the Park

On the way home from Grammie and Grandpa's on Easter Sunday, we decided to have an impromptu stop at a little local park. Maelie's first time at a park!! She was getting tired so we only stayed for maybe 10 minutes. But it was fun to push her on the swingset for the first time...something Mommy's been wanting to do since winter started!!!!

First Easter Photos

We spent Saturday at my mom's with the family, played games, colored eggs, and ate too much. And we got home waaaay too late. Easter Sunday, we went to Grammie and Grandpa's house and visited for a little while. Then, we got home and Maelie finally got to see what the Bunny brought for her! She was too tired in the morning before we went to Grammie and Grandpa's, so we waited until we got home.

Not only did she get a bunch of stuff at home from the Easter Bunny, but my mom, sister, and sister-in-law (and brother!) all gave her gifts, too...not to mention that the Easter Bunny left a big basket at Grandma's house, too!! So, this child got surprises and presents galore!!!

It was so fun to be able to spend the holiday with the family...and this little girl that we all love so much.

First Easter

Happy Easter, Everyone!! The Easter Bunny brought Maelie a bunch of stuff this year. Daddy made sure to fill out the change of address forms for her so the Easter Bunny knew she lived in Minnesota this year, and not Vietnam! lol... The Easter Bunny brought this cute bunny that sings and flaps his ears...Maelie loved it, and it took her about two minutes to figure out the 'on' button. She's such a smart, little cookie! More photos to come soon....Happy Easter!

A Maelie Photo Fix

I thought we might need a Maelie photo fix...here are a few photos that were taken recently.

This is Maelie checking out her bouncer at Grandma's...making repairs, it looks like!

I think she looks so old in this photo!!!

This is Grandpa 'Sully'...they were wrestling over Maelie's bottle! :)
