WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement, 40th attempt", a name which came from Larsen's laboratory notebook. Larsen was attempting to concoct a formula to prevent corrosion by displacing water, and arrived at the formula on his 40th attempt.[1] One myth is that "WD" stands for "war department".[2]
WD-40 was first used by Convair to protect the outer skin of the Atlas missile from rust and corrosion.[citation needed] The product first became commercially available on store shelves in San Diego in 1958.

42
42 is also the second sphenic number to be bracketed by twin primes; 30 also rests between two primes. 42 has a 14 member aliquot sequence 42, 54, 66, 78, 90, 144, 259, 45, 33, 15, 9, 4, 3, 1, 0 and is itself part of the aliquot sequence commencing with the first sphenic number 30.
Further, 42 is the 10th member of the 3-aliquot tree.
So, what does this mean, Class? I have NO idea. I just wanted to look smart for a minute!!!!!! LOL!

The 43-Man Squamish
In case you'd like to play the game when you get together with family and friends for the holidays, here are the rules:
Before any game, the Probate Judge must first flip a coin, usually a new Spanish peseta, while the Visiting Captain guesses the toss. If he guesses correctly, the game is cancelled immediately. If not, the Home Team Captain must then decide if he wishes to play offense or defense first. Play begins after a frullip is touched to the flutney and the recitation "My uncle is sick but the highway is green!" is intoned in Spanish. Penalties are applied for infractions such as walling the Pritz, icing on fifth snivel, running with the mob, rushing the season, inability to face facts, and sending the Dummy home early.
The offensive team has five Snivels (equivalent to downs in American football) to advance to the enemy goal. Carrying the Pritz across the goal line is a Woomik and scores 17 points; hitting it across with the frullip counts as a Durmish and only scores 11 points. Except in the 7th Ogre (and the 8th, if it rains), only the offensive Niblings and Overblats are allowed to score. In this case, the four Quarter-Frummerts are allowed to kick or throw the Pritz, and the nine Finks are allowed to heckle the opposition by doing imitations of Barry Goldwater.
The teams are to play a sudden-death overtime to break a tie, unless both Left Overblats are out of the game on personal fouls. If this is the case, the tie is settled by the teams lining up on opposite sides of the flutney and shouting dirty limericks at each other until one side breaks up laughing.
When an insufficient number of players precludes a regulation 43-man squamish match, a simplified version may be played: 2-man squamish. The rules are the same, except in 2-man squamish, the object is to lose.
So, before you start wondering what I've been smoking...this game was invented in Issue #95 of MAD Magazine (June 1965) by George Woodbridge and Tom Koch. It was published in the "There's a Soccer Born Every Minute Dept." ;) And yes, it was written to be completely unplayable! Funny, eh?

Frequently Asked Questions about 47 and The 47 Society
What is 47?
In short, 47 appears to be the quintessential random number of the universe. In other words, when a number appears randomly, more often than not, that number is 47. In other other words, if you asked people to pick a number at random, more often than not, that number would be 47. Of course, if 47 shows up more than any other number then it isn't truly random, but using the word random makes the whole phenomenon easier to describe.
What is a "47 Sighting"?
Anytime you notice the number 47 anywhere in your life or in the world (or elsewhere). There are a variety of interpretations as to what constitutes a bona fide "47 Sighting." Whatever your definition, we encourage you to share your 47 sightings and stories with the 47 Society Mailing List.
What is the 47 Society?
The 47 Society is an international interest-group that follows the occurence and recurrence of the quintessential random number: 47. Many suspect that the coincidental nature of 47 carries some mystical, metaphysical and/or scientific significance.
The phenomenon may have first been documented at Pomona College in 1964, when Professor Donald Bentley proved that all numbers are equal to 47. Coincidentally, 47 seems to occur on or near the college campus with amazing frquency, even by enthusiast standards.
But make no mistake: 47 is everywhere and people were noticing it long before 1964. The 47 Society Web Site is the global source for 47 information.
Aren't You Just Seeing 47 More Because You're Looking For It?
No.
Still not convinced? Try this simple experiment. Pick another number. For the next three to six months keep your eyes open for both. 47 will show up more. If you find out otherwise, please let us know!
What's The Pomona College Connection?
In the 1960's, Pomona College's Professor Donald Bentley completed a mathematical proof that stated that all numbers were equal, therefore all numbers were equal to 47. Since then, students at Pomona have been quietly indoctrinated in the ways of 47. Some believe, some doubt. But it is listed in the student handbook right after "Glee Club". At this date, we have been unable to obtain a copy of Professor Bentley's proof, however, 1968 Pomona Alumnus Wayne Phillips corroborates its existence.
What's the Star Trek Connection?
A Pomona College alum has been a writer and producer for the various Star Trek TV shows and films. He indoctrinated the other writers several years ago (while writing for Star Trek: The Next Generation). Since then, nearly every Star Trek episode has included some mention of 47. Some "Trekkies" have put together their own excellent pages dedicated to these 47s. Since these are more frequent and deliberate than randomly-occurring 47s, we generally discuss only the most cosmically significant of these sightings in our own forums. Kirk would have wanted it this way
What about OTHER numbers?
Our research indicates that numbers have lives of their own. 47 appears to be the most playful number, frequently showing up in unusual and/or surprising ways. Other numbers have their own characteristics, and we have heard heated testimonials from followers of some of these numbers, including 3, 11, 19, 23 and 42.
Keep this in mind: 47-spotting is fun. There is no need to make 47 your favorite or lucky number in order to appreciate its synchronicitious ways. Just relax, observe 47 as it reveals to you, and share your experience with the 47 Society.

Good for the Soul
I think I'll have to make a couple posts about our trip, but I have to share the one incident that honestly brought me to tears. I got Angela ready for the pool and then went in the bathroom to put my swimsuit on. I'm standing in the bathroom in front of the mirror thinking, "Yuck." Yeah, I'm fluffy, and swimsuits are NOT my favorite thing in the world.
Before I left the bathroom, I'm thinking to myself, 'Gee...I wonder what Angela's going to say...her mom is such a tiny little thing!!!' But, I opened the door and braced myself for a sassy comment. She was standing right outside the door, took one look at me and said without any hesitation, "You're BEAUTYFUL!!!!!"
Still gives me tears...Damn, she's good for the soul!!!
51
The number of the fire station and rescue engine in the TV series Emergency! I get a kick out of the repeats of this show. Also, one of my hubby's good friends actually owns a fire engine #51 that is the same kind as one used in the show! And for those of you that don't know, we also own our own fire truck. It's a FDNY Ladder truck #17. We drive it in parades, take it to car shows, etc. One day soon I'll post some photos of it! In a couple parades, we have teamed up with Engine 51. My husband also has a good friend who owns an older type ambulance...think the Ghostbusters car. And, that, too, has been in parades with us. We have our own little emergency response group, and yeah, I think we're all eccentric!! :)
One more point about the number #51 is, of course, relating to the infamous Area 51. I decided to mention this, too, because I found a great website that explains the area...but not in a kooky, Comic Book Man type of way. It's found at: http://science.howstuffworks.com/area-51.htm. Check it out if you're bored. Kind of interesting!
That is all. Over and out. :)

Angela's Answer
So, we go to my mom's. She gets a little box of candy with a Snoopy keychain attached to the front. My mom lives in a country area, but has close neighbors. So after we trick or treat at my mom's, we go next door to the neighbors...people I've known since I was born, but of course Angela has never seen them before in her life.
We ring the doorbell and when the neighbor lady opens the door, Angela muscles her way in, says 'hi' to the neighbor lady as she walks by, grabs a chair at their dining table and plops right down. We all watch as she sets her trick or treat pumpkin, grabs her box of candy out, and goes to work getting Snoopy off. Too funny, right? Gets better.
Mike (who was with) and I start talking with the couple and the husband asks her, "Now, what was your name again?"
"MyAngelaI'mfouryearsoldIgotoschoolhappybirthday." **in English with a Chinese little girl accent.**
She said it just like this to about 4 people that night. When we dropped her off, we told Shelly, her mom, what Angela's response was when people asked her name. Shelly just about fell off her chair laughing so hard!! It seems she learned to answer the 'what is your name' question like this because she knows that when adults ask her name they always follow up with MORE annoying questions like, 'How old are you,' and, 'Do you go to school?' This way, she answers it ALL in one very very fast sentence, so she can get back to the more important things....like getting at her Snoopy toy and candy!!
HAAAA!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
By the way, in way of translation:
My name is Angela. I am four years old and I now go to school! Happy Birthday. (not quite sure what the "Happy Birthday" is for....good measure I think....just IN CASE it happens to be your birthday)

From the site:
"Many people would rather not fly, or like me, simply prefer a more civilised, comfortable, interesting, adventurous, romantic, scenic, historic, exciting and environmentally-friendly way to travel. Travelling by train from London to Europe is really easy, but finding out about it (and how to book it) can be frustratingly difficult. Most travel agents only sell flights and packages. Eurostar concentrates on getting you only as far as Paris or Brussels. Even the specialist agencies that sell European train tickets tell you to 'contact them for details' and would rather sell you a railpass than get you from A to B. No-one provided basic train times, fares and 'how to' information for train journeys from the UK to Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Russia and so on. Let alone how to reach Morocco, Tunisia, Ibiza, Corsica, Crete or Malta by combining train and ship. I thought it was a gap that needed filling, and that I could easily fill it myself...
Why 'The Man in Seat Sixty-One'...?
It's Eurostar's fault... I've left London by Eurostar on my way to Marrakech (via Paris, Madrid & Algeciras), to Tunisia (via Lille & Marseille), to Italy, to Albania, to Malta, to Istanbul, Aleppo, Damascus & Petra, to Ukraine & the Crimea, and even to Tokyo & Nagasaki via Moscow, Vladivostok and the Trans-Siberian Railway. Zaharoff, the notorious arms dealer, would always book compartment 7 on the Orient Express. When travelling in Eurostar 1st class, I always ask for seat 61 (in cars 11, 7 or 8). Before you ask, it's one of a pair of individual seats with table that actually lines up with the window... "
Doesn't it just sound deliciously decadent and romantic??
